Website

Ok, so in terms of researching for our ancillary tasks, myself and Will have decided to split off and spread the work load, with my focus on the website and his on the digipak. Having ploughed through site after site, I feel that the 'Arctic Monkeys' and 'Oasis' sites were coordinated in a way that, as a consumer, was simple to use, and replicating it should be quite managable. As opposed to sites such as the 'Coldplay' site that aimed to limit the amount of information on the main page and lead consumers to corresponding links; it seemed difficult and confusing to find the relevant information. The templates for the 'Oasis' and 'Arctic Monkeys' sites however, proved simpler to navigate through with information displayed almost like a blog, and with any relevant links clearly sign-posted.

This site seems a solid template for our site, with the band logo and links situated at the top of the page, and with news and gig information streaming down the page in columns.

  1. Where are the screenshots? Where is your work in progress? Look carefully at the marking criteria for planning and research, particularly the last three points - where would you grade yourselves? How are you going to improve? It's not too late...

  2. EVALUATION SO FAR:
Our research into products and our target audience, I feel, is at least proficient. There's definitely room for a little more, however.
Organisation isn't terrible, either. We've been figuring out the best times for us to actually shoot, but the reason we haven't at certain points has mostly been due to unforeseen circumstances more than anything, like our actor having to drop out from Thursday's shoot.
I think the storyboards are good, not artistically of course, but in terms of getting the job done in setting out the shots we know we want to shoot, they're pretty successful, as are our planned lyric-sheets.
Our time management is also at least proficient, setting our shooting periods a good time in advance.
The presentation of our website is good, too, but we might personalise it a little more just to make it that much better.
I believe our skill in using digital technology and ICT is excellent, as are our communication skills in our blog posts.

  3. EVALUATION
Regarding the marking criteria, I feel the planning of our piece has been thorough and precise and at least deserving of a low level 4 grading.
In terms of time management, myself and Will have been highly flexible and willing to invest our free time in the development of the piece; having been able to compromise and select shooting dates that worked for all involved.
With regard to the planning of the initial idea, I feel once more we've worked hard to develop the piece with storyboards that outline the piece and thus simplifying the construction process, whilst our lyric sheets display all our initial instinctive reactions to the music and lyrics.
Additionally, we've worked hard to display our developments via the blog and ensuring that it's updated at regular intervals as to effectively act as a timeline for the group's goings-on.
Finally, in terms of our ancillary tasks, the website is now complete. It's presented in a user-friendly and professional way reflective of an indie group. Our use of digital technology has also been sound and effective, barring an uploading issue we had which has since been resolved, leaving us well equipped to meet the internal deadline of March 8th.
